First finished pieces...

..with just a few more coats of polyurethane to go. Forgive some of the crooked lines, those are because of my camera angles and not my painting skills! -Sara

let's get this party started

some tests to make sure i could actually do this.

my panels.

next to me for a size reference. this is slightly obscured by my naturally bad posture, however. (but check out how small christine is next to them!)

hey you, with your ear against the wall

so i realized i haven't updated everyone on what i'm actually doing. well, as i said before, lennie wanted me to combine elements of what i had, so this is the result. hope you guys like it... if not... i guess i'm in trouble...

Progress...however slow it may be

Quite a few changes have been made to my original proposals for Marycrest.

Instead of having the additional, attached panels of wood, I have condensed my grid idea to single panels for the sake of practicality more than anything.

Here are two samples I have started (these being about the fifth attempt and variation over a 2 week period).

They are far from finished but off to a good start, I believe.

whistle while you work

hello all.
i figured since the most i've contributed to the blog is a voice hopped up on helium, i thought i'd fill everyone in on what i'm up too.
the project i'm working on involves liquid emulsion coated onto wooden panels, which is in its self rather interesting.  the cool part is that i get to make the emulsion "from scratch."  like baking a delicious jelly. or perhaps a scrumptious one.  if there is such a thing...
most of the time i refer to the chemical formula as a "recipe".  so...yum.
i haven't blow my hands off yet.
 >insert reaction here<
and i don't know if i want to post images yet... basically i want you to think my project is awesome for as long as i possibly can.
see for yourself in august!
i'll post pictures after "the great reveal" (that's what i'm calling it)

Marianist Work

We are a little more than halfway through the program now (scary how fast the summer's going!) and by now we have all started working on our final ideas and products. Here are some of the images I've been working on recently:

Above are some images of illustrations I have taken from old books in the Marian library.
Below are a few examples of the images of nativity scenes I have taken from the displays in the CPC building( the old NCR building).

And below are examples of the pixels I have been working on and some different colors I am considering using.

if we don't make it we'll fake it and see this through

so, i came up with two very open-ended narratives consisting of four panels each. i thought this would be the best to go with the music lucas is doing so that the images would provide the story and the music would be the soundtrack to it. i wanted to leave them open-ended so that as different songs were played in the space, the interpretation of the story might change.

i wasn't sure which series i liked better, so i left it to lennie. he also liked both of them, so now he's having me combine them. let's see if i can pull it off.
